1.	Title	Syntactic Ambiguity on Student Writing in State Senior High School
2.	Introduction	This research aims to examine syntactic ambiguity on students‟ writing in State Senior High School. According to MacDonald, et al (1994, p. 677) “syntactic ambiguity occurs when a sequence of words has more than one syntactic interpretations”. For example: put the block in the box on the table. This sentence has more than one meanings. It can be put the block (in the box on the table) or it can be put (the block in the box) on the table. Syntactic ambiguity is a common problem which both native speakers and second language learners may face in learning English. In writing English sentences for second language learners, the opportunity to make the syntactic ambiguity is higher than the native speakers. Identifying the syntactic structure is useful in determining the meaning of the sentence. The importance of studying ambiguity is that to decrease any judgments which happen in language field in which some people who study language make judgment among them that their friend’s interpretations are wrong. They only uphold on their interpretations without considering another’s interpretations.
3.	Research Method	In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. It means that the data collected are in the form of words or pictures rather than numbers, states that “this qualitative research tries to explain the data using words or sentence which is separated into some categorizes to get the conclusion”.
4.	Discussion	People, as social creatures, interact with each other to express their ideas, feelings, and emotions by using a language which is applied in formal and informal situations. One of the examples of language used in formal situation is in the context of English classroom used by teachers and students in the class. Sometimes, the students do not state the meaning of their sentences clearly that makes the teachers interpret the meaning of their composition differently. This cause misunderstanding which is known as ambiguity. If people listen to the speaker’s utterance or reading a book, it is sometimes difficult to understand what the speaker or the writer means. This ambiguous expression can happen in one word or one phrase/sentence which is known as lexical and syntactical ambiguity. Syntactic ambiguity is a sub topic in syntax in which a sentence is composed of the rules of grammatical structure. It occurs when a sentence has more than one meanings. Several sentences are structurally ambiguous because the meanings of their component word can be combined in several ways.
5.	Conclusion	The onset of ambiguity, ambiguous region and the resolution of ambiguity which “Gorrell” proposed in his theory, in each syntactic ambiguity of each sentence. Then, the role of parsing is effective to differentiate the meanings of an ambiguous sentence. After that, we can conclude the appropriate meaning of each sentence by understanding the context.

 

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:

To analyze syntactic ambiguity outline how these models work, he alludes to three unmistakable zones of an ambiguity string, i.e. the onset of uncertainty, the vague locale, and the determination of equivocalness. Syntactic equivocalness works on sorts of basic uncertainty, which is classified into expressions and sentences and how it is clarified inside tree graphs. “Parse may be a state structure tree developed from a sentence, in the interim parsing is the errand that employments the revamp rules of a linguistic use to either create a specific grouping of words or recreate its determination or state structure tree.” The significance of examining equivocalness is that to diminish any judgments which happen in dialect field in which a few individuals who consider dialect make judgment among them that their friend’s translations are off-base. They as it were maintain on their translations without considering another’s elucidations.

Moreover, they don't realize that etymology does not consider whether a dialect is right or off-base. What they ought to realize is that how a dialect suitable is or not in utilization. Also, sometimes we don't state the meaning clearly so that we make the audience members or readers decipher our meaning into diverse meanings. To get it a composed dialect is or maybe troublesome than a spoken language since in the event that the audience members don't get it what we say, they can inquire straightforwardly what we mean. On the other hand, in the event that the readers don't get it what we had composed in a book, a novel, a writing assignment, a magazine, a daily paper, and so on, they can’t inquire about us specifically that will come to the misconception.

Syntactic ambiguity is also an important topic that should be taken into consideration and exploration. An insight into numerous ambiguities would sharpen the fundamental concept of English syntax on English learners‟ mind and make them sensitive to ambiguous phrases, sentences, or utterances so that syntactic ambiguity can be minimized. By having a broad knowledge about syntax, English learners will be able to improve their understanding of grammar. Thus, the concept of semantic analysis can be easily comprehended since the syntax and semantic related to one another.

 

 

 

OUTLINE: LITERATURE

1.	Title	The Differences between Harry Potter Novel and Movie Series 1 “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”
2.	Introduction	So in this research, the researcher will discuss the significant difference between J.K Rowling's novel "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and the movie adaptation. This difference makes some readers who have read and memorized the scenes in the novel very dissatisfied. Due to the deletion of some scenes that some are interested in, and there are also very far-reaching plot cuts.
3.	Research Method	This research uses a qualitative study, namely by asking some Harry Potter fans, and prioritizing those who have read Harry Potter's novels and watched the movie adaptation. And see how that difference happens, and ask their reactions about this movie adaptation. Is there a scene from the novel that they like that doesn't appear in the movie adaptation.
4.	Discussion	Readers and viewers often feel disappointed with films adapted from novels because they have depended on their respective imaginations that were born after reading the novel. When this novel was raised to the big screen, of course they had certain expectations for the film, both in terms of characters, dialogue, and essential scenes. In fact, when a film adaptation is viewed as good from a cinematographic perspective but is unable to meet the expectations that readers have, disappointment is inevitable. Another reason why novel adaptations of films often do not match readers' expectations is the difficulty of voicing the thoughts and conscience of characters written in the novel through scripts. In a novel, the writer has the ability to describe the story through the mind and heart of the characters, both from a first-person perspective or not. Unfortunately, this is not owned by the director.
5.	Conclusion	In the end, whether a film adaptation of a novel is successful or not comes back to the opinion of each audience who has read the novel. However, it's good if the readers are able to separate the imagination they have from the expectations for the film. That way, readers will have two versions of the story that can be enjoyed in different ways.

This research, the researcher will discuss the significant difference between J.K Rowling's novel "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and the movie adaptation.

In 1999, Joanne Kathleen Rowling or J.K Rowling, who was born on July 31, 1965 in the city of Chipping Sodbury, England, shocked the world with her first masterpiece. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) when first published immediately took the top spot in the New York Times best seller. In addition to selling well in the world market, his novel also raises the image of the novelist. So that everyone who likes the Harry Potter series must know his figure.

A little summary of the content snippets in the Harry Potter novels.

Harry Potter is an orphan. Since childhood, Harry Potter has never seen the figures of his parents. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Mr. Dursley / Mrs. Dursley. Even though he was an orphan, his uncle and aunt never treated him special. Harry Potter, who is thin, messy hair, wears moon glasses and a scar on his forehead. It was the wound that made him special, even though he didn't know it himself.

He is always treated arbitrarily by his two closest people. He was always compared to his fat cousin and was always considered right by his uncle and aunt, Dudley Dursley. The two of them never got along. Dudley treated Harry as he pleased. Not infrequently there is a fight between them. But that didn't help Harry, because he was always blamed.

Stepping on his tenth year living on Private Drive, something strange happened. Harry gets a mail from Hogwarts, the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A place so foreign to his ears. He was presented with a registration form as a new student at the place. Harry felt confused, there was no place for him to share. Mr. and Mrs. Dursley didn't help much. They are anti-magic, everything that smells of magic is always shunned. They think, it is crazy people who believe these nonsensical things. Until finally, Harry is convinced by people within Hogwarts, and he accepts it.

His first year at Hogwarts, Harry met the people who eventually became his friends, Ron Wesley and Hermione Granger. Harry must adjust to a new world that previously never heard of from his muggle family (non-magic people).

Once upon a time, Harry Potter, who was chosen as the resident of Grifindor by the selection hat, experienced some difficult problems at Hogwarts. Professor Quirell (teacher of defense against black magic), a black magic adherent used by Lord Voldemort (prince of darkness) to lead Harry to find the philosopher's stone. Harry almost died because of the incident. However, his mother's love saved him.
